April 28: Amy's e-mail to the Thompsons

Hello Grandpa and Grandma!

I also wrote you a hasty letter.  We are timed on our internet use so I thought I'd try to get as much out today as possible.  WOW!  IT's been a crazy week.  I wish there was more time to tell you everything.  I've experience everything...hope, faith, overwhelming despair, and peace.  I am just trying to rely on the Lord and trust that it will get easier.  I love it here though.  It's amazing to know that I am a disciple of the Lord...and I'm trying my best to live up to that obligation.  The MTC is great.  Missionaries are wonderful!  We have great teachers, all of them are returned missionaries...but they don't like us to use that word...we don't ever return from our missions...we are always disciples of Christ!  That gives me hope not to worry about the ending of mine!  My companion is very nice.  Her name is CETPA Howell.  She is the girl I met on facebook and the only other sister in our district.  It's a small district of 5...we just missed three sisters who left the day before we got here...so we will meet them when we leave for Ukraine.  I hope everything is going great at home.  Tell everyone I said hi and it's the best experiene of my life.  I cannot imagine doing anything else.  Could you do me a favor...can you write me or e-mail the addresses for the Williamsons, Sister Woods (including her daughters name who came to the open house) and Sister Edwards.  If not I'll just mail you the letters to hand out or something...but the Williamsons I've already stamped.  I'll send some pictures next week..if I have time to develop them...of my district.  We have three amazing elders...one is a bit naive and annoying  (I think I spelled naive wrong...).  But, he said he is usually shy, so I'm glad he's opening up here...he'll grow up.  One elder is really quite...but, I know he is going to be a great missionary.  The other elder is our District Leader and he is awesome!  He is the model missionary...but...he does like to have a little to much fun.  I think it's great though.  We are never too stressed out...and this language is stressful.  I keep praying for the Gift of Tongues and I know that Heavenly Father has already blessed me so much.  Sandra's written me two letters already.  I miss her a lot.   I just cannot believe how amazing this really is.  To know that I am giving 100% service...(when I'm behaving).  The only problem with my companion is she doesn't like to work as hard as I do...so...I feel like I'm pushing and taking too much control.  She is the senior companion though, and I'm trying to let her lead...but, she isn't following the rules exactly.  I love her though.  We get along great.  Right now we are the only 2 in our bedroom.  We have a great branch...but everyone else speaks Russian...or is learning.  Our Branch President is President Callister...His older brothers are General Authorites and they are all great.  He is related to two apostles (LeGrand Richards is one!!!)  I listed to some of his brothers conference talks before I left.  Well, I'm sorry for rambling...I have just so much to say.  We've learned to pray in Ukrainian and bear our testimonies...(pretty basic level) and are working on contacting which we will do tomorrow in the teaching center before teaching the lesson on the restoration.  Okay I love you...I'm going to try to e-mail Sandra!

Have the best day ever!

Love CECTPA Murphy!
